Circus Shows

Circus Shows belong to ancient disciplines, representing live full contact exhibitions and physical ability performances. Circus shows are usually performed on top of a circular platform, but lately on stages and theatres as well. Circus Shows represent the huge variety of those entertainment and show disciplines belonging to the majestic and ancient category of Circus Art. Circus (from the Latin term “Circus”- Circle, relating to the shape of old circuses) finds its roots in old Rome, which was the designate place for the organization of games and events in order to entertain people. Between the most appreciated entertainments, Roman State used to organize horse races, equestrian shows, fight representations (amphitheatres were completely filled with water in order to perform naval combats). One of the most famous performances during Circus Show was the tamer show, in which a masterful trainer was taming wild animals such as tigers, lions, leopards and panthers. Another famous show performed was that of the ferocious gladiator fights, as represented in the famous “The Gladiator” movie, located in the most accurate reconstruction of the roman circus: The Colosseum. Anyway, after the fell of the Roman Empire, the conception of Circus changed, and arrived to our times with the meaning of an artistic show, instead of sportive. Actually, Circus Show means incredible full contact exhibitions, balance performances, trapeze artists and juggling. Circus performances are usually organized on a circular platform, but lately, it’s common to organize these shoes even on stages or theatre with frontal views, or on city squares, on specially prepared structures. Circular platform is usually filled up with sand or sawdust and delimited by audience’s bleachers, and covered by the typical big tent, usually heated and characterized by the famous coloured stripes. Modern Circus’ main characteristic is that of conserving the travelling show peculiarity, despite its deep professional specialization. There are many Circus academies, globally known and organized as real didactic schools. Big tend and platform are dynamic structures, organized on several caravans composed by nomadic artists, belonging to various dynasties (such as Italian Orfei and Togni). Circus artists go from town to town, offering their shows to an audience which changes each time. The payment of ticket was necessary to the circus organization and sustenance. The travelling and nomadic characteristic of circus shows started after the Roman Empire’s fell, as the many circus companies started to travel and organize shows through the whole Europe, giving life to extraordinary shows and exhibitions performed from town to town. Circus companies usually arrived on famous caravans, exhibited their show and sometimes recruited new staff members, who were becoming part of the extraordinary “Circus Family”. The most clever circus artists modified caravans as well, in order to transform them and create functional stages for the organization of shows, and to create faster ways to erect the performance stage. At that time, the arrival of the circus artists meant a great event for citizen of the various towns. The first modern circus show was born in 1768, with Philip Astley’s organization. The show was composed by a circular platform in an indoor location. The show occurred in the rink’s center, with incredible tamed horses’ shows, comic games, clowns and jugglers. The audience was sitting at the rink’s sides, just like in modern circus’ representations. A few years later, bleachers were characterized by steps on which all of the audience could sit and enjoy circus show, even if usual special sits for honour guests were placed in the best places. Traditionally, the closest rows to the main stage were reserved for a aristocrat and authoritative audience. During the last ears, European Union wanted to revalue circus art respect to its gypsy connotation which was has characterized it for many years, and which made it lose its secular importance. Every European State donates each year many public funding for circus schools and festivals promotion. At the same time there are many protests and objection about the employment of tamed animals during circus shows, and about the illicit profits made with their exploitation. Our services are globally guaranteed, in order to bring the circus magic in every required place. One of the most important modern circus shows is that of the Canadian Cirque du Soleil, with its global fame; an incredible mix of amusement, performances and magic. Even Italy has a big importance in circus world with the organization of the international contest for young circus artists (age under 21) placed in the town of Latina. Thanks to this amazing contest, many artists from China, Canada, South America, Spain, Germany, Korea and United States come in order to perform to this incredible event.
